    From reading the report, the authors have done a lot of good work despite the problems of getting accurate gTLD data. The one thing that is apparent is that the ICANN registrar model is unsuited to the needs of the African market.

    Just on the MEAC market, there are serious problems in measuring gTLD counts by WHOIS due to the GDPR and reliability of the data. TR has about 1.6M regs, IR has about 330K. TR is very much a main regional player in terms of gTLD registrations.
