NARALO was officially founded during ICANN29 held in Puerto Rico in March 2007. That was 15 years ago. 

Since then, the region has been chaired by six individuals: Evan Leibovitch, Beau Brendler, Garth Bruen, Glenn McKnight, Eduardo Díaz, and Greg Shatan; not counting the many NARALO At-Large Advisory Committee (ALAC), and Nominating Committee (NomCom) members, too many to include here. 

This session will allow the audience to hear and ask questions about NARALO's history and trajectory from some of the past chairs, and the future perspective of its current chair.

• Presenting the new ALAC/RALO Outreach and Engagement (O&E) approach focusing on revised support role from the Org
• A brief outline of the NA O&E plan for FY23
• Developing the NARALO O&E strategy
• Discussion
•  ICANN Org will review the recently revised role of the Global Stakeholder Engagement (GSE) team in working with the Regional At-Large Organizations (RALOs) in defining and implementing the Outreach and Engagement plan as discussed by Sally Costerton and Maureen Hillyard over the last few months. 

• The NA GSE team will also provide a brief outline of the North America Outreach & Engagement plan for FY23 with a focus on opportunities in partnership with NARALO.

Policy II: Internet Governance & Policy Issues in Canada and the U.S.

EMPOWERMENT

In this session, ICANN org will give a high-level overview of legislation in the region that is being monitored for potential impact on ICANN’s mission. 

Topics: 

• Particular focus will be given to bills that have significant momentum in Parliament/ Congress, and recent laws that have been passed and are now in the implementation phase. 
• Brief update on the ITU Plenipotentiary. 
• At the end of the presentation, we will dedicate time for discussion with GA participants to get a sense of what they are hearing in their communities, and share ways NARALO can support the org’s efforts in monitoring legislation.
