The Internet Society (ISOC) is a global nonprofit organization that provides leadership on issues related to the Internet, including public policy, education, technical standards, and Internet technologies. To advance these objectives in Bangladesh, the Internet Society Bangladesh Dhaka Chapter was officially chartered by the Internet Society on July 20, 2011. In 2014, the chapter was recognized by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) as a Certified At-Large Structure (ALS) through the Asia-Pacific Regional At-Large Organization (APRALO).
The ISOC Bangladesh Dhaka Chapter is a multistakeholder community comprising representatives from civil society, academia, the technical community, media, the private sector, and government. The chapter operates as a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting an open, globally connected, secure, and trustworthy Internet.
The chapter works collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders to enhance digital awareness and technical capacity through operational research, training programs, workshops, community engagement, and policy development initiatives. By fostering open, transparent, and inclusive participation, the chapter contributes to the development of Internet-related policies and supports the Internet Society's vision that "The Internet is for Everyone."
