2021 Selection for APRALO Vice Chair July 2021 through 2022 AGM

Due to the resignation of Nadira Al-Araj, APRALO is holding a selection for a replacement to hold the position from July 2021 through the 2022 Annual General Meeting. 

Selection Timetable: 

  • 22 June 2021 -  Announcement of call for nominations and Nominee's Statement.

  • 22 June – 29 June 2021 - Nomination period.

  • 2 July 2021  - Deadline for nomination acceptances

  • 5 July  2021  - 7 July 2021- Call with the candidates if desired by the RALO. 

  • 7 July - 14 July 2021 - Elections if required.

  • Newly elected Vice Chair shall take their seat immediately following the selection/election.  

IMPORTANT: The following shall be the process for posting and accepting nominations for the APRALO Vice-Chair position:

  1. Nominations, including self-nominations, must be made directly to the apac-discuss@atlarge-lists.icann.org list. Any current subscriber to this list can make nominations.
  2. Nominators must also post the nomination at the 2021 Selection for APRALO Vice Chair July 2021 through 2022 AGM Wiki Workspace directly, or by sending a mail to At-Large staff;
  3. A nominee who opts to accept his/her nomination must do so by replying directly to the said mailing list, with a copy to At-Large staff, and must complete or update their Statement of Interest (see:At-Large New SOIs Workspace).   
  4. Apart from the nomination and the acceptance, additional messages  to the said mailing list expressing support for any candidate are not required; and
  5. For accepted nominations, candidates should also share a brief Expression of Interest explaining their suitability to the said mailing list with a copy to At-Large staff.

I graciously accept the nomination to for the position of APRALO co vice chair.

I would be completing my second year tenure as a delegate from APRALO in Nominating Committee and feel confident of taking up this role if selected by the community.

During my two terms I have attempted to actively: (1) Contribute to the sub committees (Outreach, Asessment/ Interview) I have been involved in (2) conduct outreach initiative to encourage eligible candidates from the region to apply and fulfill the responsibility of a NomCom member to work with the other committee members to select appropriate candidates for the leadership positions as expected by the byelaws and (3) keep the community updated as much as possible, while maintaining confidentiality of the process on the developments related to NomCom2020 and 21


If selected by the community for the role of Co Vice Chair, I would attempt to focus on trying to engage the community more in the APRALO and At Large process, keep them more informed on the various initiatives and support the APRALO and At large leadership on the initiatives and policy efforts wherevere appropriate.
