IETF IDNAbis Working Group

On 12nd Jan, IESG has approved 3 Internet Drafts by the working group as Proposed Standards.

  • Internationalized Domain Names in Applications (IDNA): Protocol draft-ietf-idnabis-protocol-18.txt
  • Internationalized Domain Names for Applications (IDNA): Definitions and Document Framework draft-ietf-idnabis-defs-13.txt
  • The Unicode code points and IDNA draft-ietf-idnabis-tables-09.txt

These Proposed Standards (collectively known as IDNA2008) replaced RFC 3490 (also known as IDNA2003).

(There were some debates whether it should be called IDNA2010 instead of IDNA2008 but it was decided the major decisions were made in 2008 so it should remain as IDNA2008)
