What is it about: Presentation of the Staff Discussion Paper on the Creation of non-binding best practices to help registrars and registries address the abusive registrations of domain names and discussion on next steps. This discussion paper was requested by the GNSO Council in response to one of the recommendations of the Registration Abuse Policies Working Group.

The session will include an overview of the Final Issue Report on the Current State of the UDRP. Attendees will hear the community viewpoints on the effectiveness of the UDRP submitted during the Public Comment Forum on the Preliminary Issue Report, and on whether a policy development process (PDP) should be commenced by the GNSO Council to modify or amend the UDRP.

15.00 – 15.30 – IRTP Part B Implementation
What is it about: Update on the status of implementation of the IRTP Part B recommendations adopted by the ICANN Board
(see http://www.icann.org/en/minutes/resolutions-25aug11-en.htm#1.2) as well as an update on the status of the IRTP Part B recommendations awaiting staff proposals (new provision for the IRTP on when and how domains may be locked or unlocked" and standardizing and clarifying WHOIS status messages regarding Registrar Lock status)

What is it about: Following review of the public comments received, the PDP-WT revised its report accordingly and submitted the Updated Final Report to the GNSO Council for its consideration on 28 September. A presentation of the Updated Final Report will be provided during this session.

16:45-17:15 Geographic Regions Review Update
What is it about: Presentation from Staff and GNSO WG reps updating Council on progress of community-wide Geographic Regions Review Working Group. WG has published Draft Final Report and community has opportunity for review and comment through 19 December. Pursuant to the Board-approved charter of the WG, the GNSO Council will be specifically asked for feedback in early 2012 when the formal Final Report is published.
