Domain name warehousing has been described as the practice of registrars obtaining control of domain names under their management with the intent to hold or “warehouse” names for their use and/or profit.  There is a concern that this practice denies the general public a fair opportunity to compete for expiring domain names and gives registrars an unfair advantage in the domain name registration process.  Domain name warehousing has been a recurring topic of concern within the ICANN community for many years.  In the interest of enhancing public perception of the Registrar industry and creating a domain name registration process that is fair for all, discussion of the appropriateness of domain name warehousing should be discussed for consideration as amendments to the RAA.
