About DASC
The DASC is the core of the ccTLD community-driven process around DNS Abuse. DASC was created as a dedicated forum for ccTLD Managers to discuss the important topic of DNS Abuse and to share information, insights, and practices. In keeping with the nature of the ccNSO, the purpose of the Committee is not to formulate any policy or standards, recognising that policy development in this area is out of scope of the ccNSO policy remit. The overarching purpose is to raise understanding and awareness of the issues pertaining to DNS Abuse, promote open and constructive dialogue, and ultimately to assist ccTLD Managers in their efforts to mitigate the impact of DNS Abuse. Internet Governance Liaison Committee meeting

ccPDP3-RM at ICANN75 The ccPDP3-Review Mechanism working group has developed a proposed mechanism for the review of the specific decisions on the delegation, transfer, revocation and retirement of the delegated top-level domains associated with the country codes assigned to countries and territories in the ISO 3166-1 standard. The working group will hold two working sessions. One to stress test the policy proposals and the second to evaluate the feedback received during the ccNSO Policy Update session held on Tuesday, 20 September. Relevant documents are available on its website and workspace. About the 3rd ccNSO policy development process - Part 1 (ccPDP3-RET) of the third Country Code Names Supporting Organization (ccNSO) policy development process (ccPDP3) was tasked with developing and proposing policy for the retirement of country code top-level domains (ccTLDs).
- Part 2 (ccPDP3-RM) includes the development of a review mechanism for decisions pertaining to the delegation, transfer, revocation, and retirement of ccTLDs.
The proposed policy on retirement of ccTLDs was submitted to the ICANN Board for its consideration in September 2021. The results of ccPDP3 part 1, if adopted by the ICANN Board, will need to be implemented by the ICANN organization (org) and IANA services. They will also provide the basis for future removal of ccTLDs from the root zone database in the event the ccTLD has to be retired. The ccNSO Council recently clarified its position regarding the exclusion of ccTLD policy related matters from ICANN's Reconsideration and Independent Review Processes. Council sent a letter, following a question from ICANN Legal concerning the proposed ccTLD retirement policy (ccPDP3-RET), aiming to ensure that the Board's consideration process of the proposed retirement policy will be completed. The ccNSO Council is of the view that following disputes and claims should be excluded from ICANN's Reconsideration Process as well as from the Independent Review Process (IRP) for Covered Actions: - all disputes and claims related to the delegation, transfer and revocation of ccTLDs, until both ccPDP3-RM and ccPDP4-IDN have been concluded.

At ICANN75, the ccNSO Meetings Programme Committee (MPC) and ccNSO Internet Governance Liaison Committee (IGLC) will jointly organise this ccTLD News Session. The protection of geographical indications has recently reemerged in various regions as an area of increased regulatory attention and legislative initiatives. The latest examples are the European Commission proposals which aim to reform the European Union framework on geographical indications with special attention for enforcement issues linked to the registration of domain names both as TLDs and second-level domains. This session will explore the potential impact of regulations and legislation on ccTLDs.
