Board Meeting with the ALAC

Board questions to the ALAC

  1. In addition to the resources that Org has provided, is there anything else that ALAC/At-Large needs to bring applicants into the Next Round from underserved communities? At-Large Shepherds: hadia.elminiawi

  2. Now that the INFERMAL (Inferential Analysis of Maliciously Registered Domains : https://www.icann.org/en/blogs/details/update-on-icann-funded-infermal-project-designed-to-combat-dns-abuse-25-10-2023-en ) Report is published, what are the potential implications for the ALAC? At-Large Shepherds: jonathan.zuck

  3. ICANN's new CEO will come on board in December. What do you think his top three priorities should be, and why? Please be as concrete as possible. At-Large Shepherd:  Justine Chew

ALAC Questions to the Board (deadline:  Wednesday, 30 October 2024)

  1. Can the Board go into more detail about where its stands when it comes to the issue of not dealing with matters that are related to content? The At-Large community observes that the work between the Board or ICANN org with regards to content and without content seems to be blurred. For example, the UDRP review relies on the review of content and is an ICANN policy.

  2. As New gTLD Base Registry Agreements and Legacy TLD agreements enter into their renewal periods, could the ICANN Board provide additional details regarding the process and direct contact for negotiations between ICANN org and the Contracted Party involved?

  3.  What are the Board's plans for Anti-Harassment Working Group and what actions, plans or strategies do they have to reform ICANN’s processes to handle sexual harassment, including providing actual autonomy to the Office of the Ombuds, with strict timelines.

      4. The Draft ICANN Strategic Plan 2025-2030, released in July 2024, outlines ICANN’s approach to environmental sustainability, but it raises several key questions: What specific, measurable targets have been established? What is the scope of organizational excellence       concerning ecological impact, and does it include the comprehensive integration of sustainability into DNS and internet infrastructure? Additionally, what is the plan for engaging the multistakeholder community in these efforts, and what steps are being taken to raise awareness or advocate for sustainable practices in internet governance? Lastly, how does the Board plan to ensure environmental responsibility remains a core component of ICANN’s governance mission over the long term?
