Actions:
- Technology Taskforce to have a conversation with ICANN IT (Josh) on AC recording conversion, so that webinar recordings can be easily shared and played back.
- Nathalie Peregrine/ Ariel Liang to confirm that whether the repository of webinars link is included in the ALS welcome email
...
Notes:
- Need to define 'Capacity Building' and possibly change the term
- :
- There has been a thorough webinar program being undertaken in 2015
- However the webinar participation level has been quite low
- Topics for webinars include important cross community issues, and those attract participation.
- APRALO-APAC Hub webinars address the needs in the region, and this has been appreciated by the APRALO/APAC community, topics have been identified in a collaborative manner
- Webinars need to be continued, and ALSes need to be encouraged to participate
- One of the participation challenge is the ability to use the webinar materials after the webinar date/time, so that they be easily shared on social media. AC recordings are difficult to be converted into videos to be uploaded on YouTube. Technology Taskforce can probably a conversation with ICANN IT (Josh) on this, so that webinar recordings can be easily shared and played back.
- It would be good to track the stats on the archived webinars, to understand the number of downloads, etc. Far more people may be watching the webinars after they have taken place. To set up baseline numbers to measure future participation and push the capacity building information/materials to the community members and encourage them to take advantage of this. Participation in the capacity building program can be a good metrics/criteria to measure engagement.
- At-Large Structures should know about the repository of the webinars archives.
- It may be good to include a short blurb about the content of the webinar or blog posts about learning opportunities to entice the ALSes, as learning process itself takes time.
- Re publicizing the webinars after they take place - IEEE breaks the recordings down into digestible sections, uses twitter feed, mailing lists. NTEN uses twitter feed and tweet throughout the entire webinar and can see how long people have stayed on the webinar, as well as other tools to keep people's attention.
- A repertoire is large, but may be intimidating for a newcomer to navigate through. At-Large Community/Staff need to provide more guidance and highlight the key webinars and provide frameworks how to use the resources.
- Twitter feed are aiming at individuals, and At-Large is not really aiming at the individuals but organization. The important point is to get through the ALSes, understand who we are trying to attract and get them engaged.
- Wiki page that lists the webinars should be more intuitive, rather than listing them based on date. The assignees can look into this and make them more easily accessible.
